TMW (Tai Chi Movements for Wellbeing) is a sequence of movements based on the traditions of Tai Chi and Chi Kung. The sequence has been co-developed by Richard Farmer and Dr David Quinn in collaboration with Marigold Farmer.
Tai Chi Chuan is well known as the exercise of relaxation, but while teaching Richard noticed that learning the forms and theories of Tai Chi could often cause frustration. Students would drop out and give up, never realising the benefits or simple essence of the graceful, flowing movements. For some, the time involved was just too great. For others, a physical injury or imbalance made the movements difficult.
TMW has been created for everyone, distilling elements of the traditional arts into a simple but powerful sequence. Movement can be sitting or standing, and encourages us to build a personal relationship with our journey back to balance. There’s no competition or need to perform. Simply by moving and breathing we are promoting good health. But TMW’s approach is to use our movement to put us in touch with fundamental qualities which aid wellbeing. As this relationship, and our understanding deepens, we notice how the benefits of the sequence can support and enhance our life with less stress, more clarity, confidence and presence.
